$2.3bnvisitor economy to build on

ELEVEN WEEKENDS A YEAR

An AFL fixture lands in the Territory's best weather and its biggest tourism months.

The season lands in the dry

The AFL runs March to September. In Darwin that is the dry season, the months people visit. A home fixture puts eleven events into the Territory's best weather and its peak tourism window, which is the opposite of the scheduling problem people assume the Top End has.

A visitor economy already worth $2.3bn

1.3 million visitors came to the Territory in the year to December 2025, spending $2.3 billion and supporting more than 17,000 jobs. International arrivals were up 15.1% and domestic overnight visitors up 17.9%. The infrastructure to host people already exists; what it doesn't have is eleven more games a year.
